ITENERARY

Your 4 Nights 5 Days Bhutan Tour starts with a scenic flight into the lush green Paro valley. En-route flight one can witness magnificent views of the world’s highest peaks including Mt. Everest in a clear weather. As you land Paro International Airport, the first gift from Bhutan will be the cool, clean fresh air as you step out of the plane. After clearing customs and visa issue, your guide shall meet you outside the airport and drive to Thimphu - the tiny capital. (1 hour+ drive) After lunch, go for Thimphu sightseeing visiting cultural & historical sites like 'National Memorial Chorten' with its golden spines shining in the sun which was built in honor of third King of Bhutan, Jigme Dorji Wangchuck. Then drive up to 'Buddhas' point' with a biggest statue of Lord Buddha located atop hill with great view of Thimphu city. Then follows Motithang Mini-Zoo (home of the bizarre Takin, the national animal), the Weekly Centenary Farmers' Market with local produces (Friday, Saturday & Sunday). Afterwards, back to hotel. After breakfast, drive to Punakha which takes about 1 & half hour. En-route pass thru Dochu La Pass at 3,140 meters. The pass offers spectacular panorama of the Eastern Himalayas in a clear day. After the pass, the road descends through varied forest and finally emerging into the highly cultivated valley of Punakha. Approaching Punakha, take a short hike through beautiful rice fields to Chimmi Lhakhang - the fertility temple dedicated to Drukpa Kuenley. Drukpa Kuenley as a favorite saint of the Bhutanese people is known affectionately as “the Divine Madman”. In Punakha, visit the beautiful Punakha Dzong located at the confluence of the Pho-chu (male-river) and Mo-chu (female-river). The Punakha Dzong is arguably the most impressive dzong in the country. Today, drive from Punakha to Paro tracing the same route and re-crossing Dochula pass, so one more oppourtinity to witness great Himalayan panorama. Upon arrival in Paro visit Rinpung Dzong built in 1646 by Shabdrung Ngawang Namgyal - the first spiritual and temporal ruler of Bhutan. The Dzong continues its age-old function as the seat of the district administration, district court and the monastic body. The southern approach to the Dzong has a traditional roofed cantilever bridge called Nemi Zam. Overnight at Hotel (Breakfast/Lunch/Dinner)
In the morning, drive to the base camp of Taktsang to start the hike up to the Taktsang monastery (Tiger’s nest). It's an hour hike to the cafeteria which is a good view point from where enjoy the stunning view of the monastery. It's believed Guru Padmasambhava landed on the back of a tigress in the 8th century here and mediated. Hike further up to the monastery & explore around. Then hike downhill to the road point and drive to visit 'Kyichu Lhakhang', one of the oldest temples in Bhutan. In the evening is free to explore the main street of Paro.
